Title: Etched on the Walls
Chapter 1 "In the Grass"
BSG- Kara/Lee
Disclaimer: Not mine, I own only the plot...etc...

I swore I'd never write fluff again, so much for that...
Though I intend this fic to be fairly historically accurate in terms of prehistory; I’m screwing with the dates a bit - I own nothing, just shipper-heartache. Also I have moved up the dates, so it’s not as “past”- i.e. beginnings of agriculture... colonials forming small farming communities, but still rather dependent on hunting/gatherering- like the “locals”. I’m not sure what to promise, but no one will go “poof”.

It’s getting darker now, the nearby fire flickers giving the pictures on the wall a moving quality as she worked. She had been deep in this cave for hours now; her fingers decisively creating the geometric designs on this inside of this cave. The red ochre staining her fingers as she worked. The smoke thickens around her momentarily before seeping out the cracks in the rock leaving her to continue her work, painting the mandala that had led them here on the surface of the rock. And then the distinct shape of a viper. Through the cracks in the rock she can look up and see the stars, she smiles in some sort of remembrance and lies back to watch the images move in the light of the flames.

 Quite some time earlier...

The sun shone brightly on the grass on the savannah.  They had just been standing here together for ages, not saying a word, neither entirely sure what to say. They had watched Lee’s, no their, father fly away on a raptor for what is likely the last time.

But when she began to walk, she glanced back to see Lee smiling and following close behind her. She turned around and held out her hand.  Whatever came next, they would face it together.

“I think I just want to stare at it all a little longer.” Lee said into the silence.

“It is a beautiful planet, maybe a little too bright and shiny.” Kara smiled, shielding her eyes from the bright sun, unsure of what came next.

They let their words sit in the silence and walked further, not really heading to anything or away from anything but just to walk together.

A little ways away they lay down in the long green grass, just lay there together, Kara’s head resting on Lee’s chest, his arms around her.  They could have just lain like that for hours, but suddenly Kara chose to break the silence.

“Maybe I should just disappear; I’m really not sure what to do next.” Kara admitted slowly. Her task was done, all she had left was Lee.
“Wherever you’re going, I’m going too.” Lee answered drawing her face closer, “We can just go off together, explore this world. Climb the mountains and swim in the oceans." Excitement filled his voice as he spoke.

“You sound just like a little kid.” Kara laughed at his excitement, propping herself for a good view of his face. But his excitement was contagious, and she wasn’t exactly thrilled with the prospect of settling down and farming.

“For the first time in a long time, I can just be. And maybe that makes me feel a bit like a kid.” Lee rolled suddenly and Kara found herself on her back looking up into Lee’s stunning blue eyes. There was a decidedly playful smile on his face.  She laughed, and rolled Lee back straddling him and pressing down on his shoulders, he rolled them again, and again. They continued the mock struggle happily for some time. Finally pinning Kara down securely, holding her arms firmly but gently above her head.

An old expression was on Kara’s face, one he hadn’t seen in quite some time, “I dare you. Lee, I dare you.” She smiled mischievously.

“What? Now?” Lee answered, his eyebrows raising and his voice conveying slight surprise.

“Yeah, now.”  Kara wriggled slightly and rolled them again. She freed her hands, which Lee released without much struggle and removed her jacket. Lee reached for the hem of her tanks pulling them off partway, letting Kara toss the clothing over her head and lean down for a kiss, beginning to work Lee’s tanks swiftly over his head and on to the grass nearby. The instant their lips met the walls and time fell away, they just were what they always were, two perfectly matched souls.

 “Lee.” Kara sighed his name, closing her eyes as Lee kissed her brow and withdrew his body from hers. Afterwards they lay there in sun, the sweat drying on their bodies and their arms around each other. Content to lie in the silence that followed.

“So what else do you want Lee? Other than climbing up that mountain?”

Lee paused, “I have everything I want right now, in my arms.”

Kara paused and smiled at his response,obviously pleased by it. "I can't believe we made it here."
"Neither can I." Lee smiled, enjoying the feeling of the sun on his body, and Kara's warm weight.

Out of nowhere, the decision came, “I think I want to see those mountains close up.” Kara rolled up onto her side leaning in for another kiss.

“We can leave tomorrow morning, we’ll get some stuff together and just go.”

“Just like that?” Kara propped her head up to make better eye contact.

“Just like that. Before either of use get recruited for someone’s horticultural pursuits. ” Lee leaned forward for another searing kiss. And desire unexpectedly rose up like a flood in response.

They spent the afternoon like that. Lying in the sun, making love and making up for lost time. Until the sun began to set and they headed back for the tents, slightly sunburnt, but still hand in hand. Whatever the future was here, they would face it together.

 Her fingers dipped into the small leather-like pouch and she created a new design.  More complex and beautiful.  It was moments like these when she could lose herself slightly and allow her mind to wander. To the beginnings of their life on this planet, and the shape things had taken towards her present.  It was fully dark out now; she could see a sliver of moon through the largest crack in the rock. She paused to breathe it in; the beauty of the moment then continued her work. Art was one mark she could leave. She shivered slightly and reached for the nearby blanket, wrapping it around herself while she continued her work.  Figures of people,her memories, etched and painted into the rock in the depths of this cave.

THIS IS NOT a transcript and will not be word for word, I can only take notes so quickly...I had to paraphrase...

SPOILERS BELOW>>>YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

I guess I'll post the shippy stuff first, when asked if Starbuck would be kicking A*S*S* in a viper she responded with that she would be kicking *** in general and in the first six episodes she will: attempt to shoot someone, kill some marines, have sex, get drunk and kill some cylons in a viper...
Later on in the questions, she was telling on set stories and mention that during a love scene with Jamie Bamber she planned to handcuff him to the bed as a joke, but she didn't because she was too much in character...
I don't think I've heard this before...could be KLG...but then again... I don't really think so...


The first bit is my friend's notes...and it will be choppy.... * The first question was about the original series fans... ( a very similar question was asked later... ) So Katee talked about the hate mail which stopped after the mini... The second was about training for the stunts. Apparently for the mini they made her put on weight and gain muscle mass, she loves doing her own stunts... Excepting the one in BW when her character is jumping off a building and they dropped her. And she dislocated her knee. Now she's going to "let the stunt double kill herself".
The next question was about the training for the seasons; she mentioned the mini boot camp and how everyone was nervous about ti when it ended up being actor-boot camp , where they were even brought coffee... and about one of the team building activities, like being blindfolded and having to untie some knot thing in a group and how they took on their (command) roles from the series, Jamie being in charge, Katee second, then Grace and then all the knuckledraggers.
The next was about the boxing match; and how her and Jamie love to beat each other up
Then it was about the female characters not getting enough scenes together to which she responding, "I think they're afraid that if they put two tough women together that they're going to be lesbians" (*might be incorrect wording) And when her and Mary work together that they can't stop laughing...
She does have scenes with Mary coming up, and that episodes two and three will not be happy...(when are they ever>?)
Then some 40-something guy got up to the microphone and asked about the Lee/Kara/Sam triangle and that he would like to see Kara leave Sam and get together with Lee... She responded by saying that they are both so cute/hot? and mentions Leoben and Baltar as well...
She doesn't want he series to end happily, because it doesn't make sense to tie things up in a bow...and that she doesn't think that Starbuck could be happy being happy and that maybe she finds some sort of joy in misery...
Then she goes into a story about a Tied pen...(she bought one for her boyfriend and it left big yellow streaks on his shirt)
Then someone gets up and asks her if she knows that people write p o r n about her online, (everyone laughs...Katee's expression was very interesting...) and then she says..."Wait you mean me as in Katee>?" To which said person responds.."Yeah..." (real people fanfiction...) The she asks "Is it good?" ...
"Some of it..." So this involves more laughter... and then she suggests that she should print some off and wallpaper her boyfriend's bathroom with it...

There is also some interesting shipper friendly insights on the paint scene...
The next questions is about the Education of Max Bickford...
Katee mentions that is was like and acting education, and how she regrets not picking one her her costars brains, drinking with people stories...
Then she says that MB got get BSG which got her BW...
Then there where two embarrassing stories, one about her swim meet the other about shooting white noise...
Both of which involve exposure of body parts... And I do not believe that I could do either story justice...
She is happy that they have a chance to properly wrap up BSG instead of having the rug pulled out from under them like most TV series and that they've shot up to episode six already
The next questions is rather she prefers to play characters more similar to herself or character characters...
She likes doing both, then is asked to identify which is Kara.
She responds with" Starbuck is my screwed up part, so I go to work and do therapy." (Again everyone laughs)
She gets to go to work everyday and make out with really hot guys, and that their are lots on BW; then she throws in an "I love my boyfriend" after the laughter looses enough volume

hen there was another original Starbuck vs Kara Thrace kind of question, and that there is no comparison because our Starbuck is a woman and an very different character. Comparison is just not possible...
Then there was some stuff about the picture of the guy on his knees as Caprica is being destroyed as a reminder of what they are fighting for, reference made to 911 and firefighters and some other picture...
Katee Sackhoff is "obsessed in a very sick way with Van Morrison."
Then someone asks her what TV she watches interestingly Katee doesn't have cable...and she watches whatever is on Tivo at her boyfriends, she mentions that she loves top chef, and that it's like "walk in the door, may the best man win here's your knives..."
Then someone asks about the Eye of Jupiter Mandala in Kara's apartment on Caprica. Katee didn't paint the mandala, it was there when she got there, they did invite her to paint and she did...She composed the poetry from Kara's perspective and painted that on the walls, and apparently she can't paint at all, even her house... she usually has to call in her mother... And she basically just tried not to mess up what had already been painted.
Then she talked about Richard Hatch and how he was hot when he was young, and that he's fun to work with and hysterical...giving her advice : life lesson and reasons not to get married...
Then she spoke yet again about how she had to mislead casts and fans for Maelstrom, DE and RDM told her to sell it, so she did and they got mad and told her to cool it a little because it was getting mutinous, and that her mom was there the day they told everyone, and people really believed her mom when she lied...we've heard most of this from various sources already....
That BSG is a soap opera/drama in space and that they can get away with so much dramatically because it is science fiction

All the character at this point have a common goal; to find a place where they can live and be happy
Talks about Lucy Lawless and how amazing and funny she is, again about the Xena poll, Lucy did NOT want to be called Xena and there was a poll to who would do so first, Katee did, the she mentioned that she is not quite sure if Lucy heard her and that she is scared of her...
Katee mentioned that blockbuster was her best friend, she loves watching films in general and refused to pick a favourite when asked
Believes you can learn alot acting wise by watching a lot of films, mentions Angeline Jolie in particular as a good actress
Then someone (actually a friend I was there with, my convert to be more specific) asked if Katee knew about the miniature action figure, (said friend actually borrowed mine and held it up)she said in response that everyone was getting them for Christmas and jokes about the hips and but, mentioning "my but is cuter than that"
Then the questions finished at Katee just talked for a while
Going to be much divide in season four, Kara will have to pick sides and may end up with some unexpected allies
May find Earth earlier than we as fans expect
Then she goes into pranks and jokes mention the Jamie handcuff sex scene thing (see first post)
Then she talked about when they had sexual harassment speakers in they all joke around and ask stupid questions; because being actors they are always up in each to other's personal spaces and if someone grabs her but it isn't a big deal because they probably did the same thing yesterday...
Example of stupid question: "When Eddie grabs my but so I grab his package ...is that sexual harassment?"
( At this point I almost feel sorry for the speaker....)
Also mentions once when she went out drinking with Tahmoh they came out and paparazzi started taking pictures, and his hand was on her a** so she told him to look down, when he asked why she told him about the paparazzi so he grabbed her breast.... weird things like that[/color]
She then tells the paint sex pasties story I'm sure we all heards...
And that was the end of the panel, she got a standing ovation....
and thats it for the panel...
